Fulbright is the most prestigious scholarship programmed administered by the United States Department of State. The Government of Pakistan funds the Fulbright-HEC PhD scholarship, which is administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) in accordance with Fulbright policies and regulations.
The Fulbright scholarship covers tuition, required textbooks, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master’s or Doctorate degree. Additionally, USEFP assists with the visa process. Fulbright students from Pakistan are enrolled in universities across the United States.
During their studies, Fulbright recipients will meet, work, live with, and learn from the people of their host country while sharing daily experiences with them.
The programme facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and during routine tasks, allowing the grantee to gain an appreciation for the perspectives and beliefs of others, their way of doing things, and their way of thinking.
Through community involvement, individuals will interact one-on-one with their hosts in an environment of openness, academic integrity, and intellectual freedom, thereby fostering mutual understanding.
Eligibility U.S Fulbright Scholarship
All qualified Pakistani citizens who are currently living in Pakistan (during the application process) and who are dedicated to returning to and serving their home country are encouraged to apply. Aside from clinical medicine, all fields of study are welcome to apply. Applying is strongly encouraged for those with expertise in energy, water, agriculture, health, education, environment, and climate change.
In order to be considered for an award, candidates must be fluent in the required language(s), demonstrate sufficient competency in those languages, and show evidence of having made appropriate preparations for the project and the host country.
The minimum educational requirement for admission to a Master’s programme is a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree (16 years of formal education), and the minimum educational requirement for admission to a PhD programme is a Master’s, M.Phil., or a comparable degree (18 years of formal education) from an approved institution.
It is expected that all applicants will take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). All chosen applicants will be expected to take the TOEFL if English is not their first language. Applicants should be ready to complete grants independently, without the support of any dependents.
