Formalities
The EAA may send you an invitation letter if you meet the aforementioned admission requirements. EAA facilitates visa-upon-arrival for candidates traveling from countries without embassies upon receipt of a scanned copy of a valid passport.
Visa on arrival requires a minimum of ten working days to process. You must send a scanned copy of your valid passport well in advance, taking a minimum of 10 days into consideration.
On the basis of a criminal record check, candidates must present a Police Clearance Certificate. This document must be transmitted as quickly as possible to facilitate acceptance formalities and satisfy Security requirements.
To satisfy local security requirements, a Personal History Form must be filled out, signed, and accompanied by a photograph before being submitted to the visa facilitation office (Sales & Business Development Office) along with a Police Clearance Certificate and Medical Clearance.
Candidates must initially arrive with a visitor’s visa. The Academy will facilitate the issuance of a Residence Permit after the student has begun classes and paid the required fee to Immigration.
The amount will be communicated as you progress through the admissions process. All International Trainees are required to present a letter of support from their embassies in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, within five business days of arrival.
The supporting letter must specify the reason for staying in Addis Ababa, the validity of the Police Clearance Form, and the applicant’s nationality. EAA will expedite the processing of visas and other security passes after receiving proof of payment.
Payments
The duration of the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians Training Program is twenty-two months. Package One: USD 22,000.00.
- Classroom and On-the-Job Training (OJT) Fees; Housing Costs; and
- Monthly Pocket Allowance Exam by the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority of ETB 2,960.00
Second package: USD 16,390.00
Fee for classroom and on-the-job training (OJT); exam administered by the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority A qualified candidate must pay 50% of the total Training Fee before beginning training, with the remaining 50% due at the end of the first year.
The Contract Agreement will be sent to you to be signed by you or your sponsor and returned to EAA for countersigning. You will receive an invoice to transfer the USD payment to the CITI Bank Account of Ethiopian Airlines in New York or the Deutsche Bank AG London Account.
Details will be included on the Contract Agreement and Invoice. Once payment has been settled, the EAA Sales and Business Development office shall be notified with payment verification.
Training Calendar
Applications are accepted all year long. beginning in January However, contingent upon demand, additional batches may be admitted in addition to the regular admission. The actual class beginning date will be communicated via email.
Training Duration and Class Times
Training for aircraft maintenance technicians takes 22 months. Classes are held at our training headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on weekdays, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Travelling to Addis Ababa
Ethiopia is accessible through Bole International Airport in Addis Abeba. A local coordinator will greet you upon arrival and accompany you to the training facilities.
