Community and Volunteering Assistant Jobs in UK 2024

The Children’s Country House in Sudbury sees all three components of the property—the hall, Museum, and gardens—come together under one core proposition. We have considered every aspect and asked how we can make this a place where every child feels comfortable, and welcome and can guide their own visit.

As our Volunteer and Community Assistant, you will help deliver our Volunteer and Community Plan, including recruiting and supporting our team of volunteers to deliver a child-focused offering for our guests.

The role requires working with vulnerable groups, including children, and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

What it’s like to work here:

To ensure we stay true to our ambitions, The Children’s Country House is being created, for and by children, through a range of expertise and research. We recruited a group of over 100 child ambassadors who helped us on this journey to build a children’s country house. We want to engage children with our collections, stories, and history by providing a fun, heritage day where children can use their natural curiosity to explore the property in a safe and unobstructed manner.

You will work within our Volunteer and Community Team and report to our Senior Volunteer and Community Officer. You will also work closely with our team of around seventy volunteers in various roles spread across the property team.

What you’ll do: You’ll help deliver our volunteering and community plan by supporting our teams, volunteers, partners, and local communities. You will help with the day-to-day organization, administration, and other support of volunteering services. Working with volunteers at every stage of the volunteer journey will help you ensure they feel engaged and involved in the work of the property. Actively listening and responding to volunteers, communities, and partners.
