Sponsorship for Excellent Educational Achievement at Leiden University (The Netherlands):

Scholars from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA) who have demonstrated exceptional academic promise are encouraged to apply to the Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) for funding to attend the university’s Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), or Master of Laws (LL.M.) programs. The awards can cover either 10%, 15%, or 100% of the full tuition price (excluding the house charge), respectively.

There are a total of three scholarships available through the Leiden University Excellence Scholarship initiative.

  • The first €10,000 of tuition; the second €15,000; the third €25,000; the total tuition fee minus the mandatory tuition price

It’s important to note that the LExS is not a complete scholarship. Students from outside the European Economic Area who are awarded the Liberal Exchange Subsidy (LExS) are still required to provide “evidence of sufficient funds” when applying for a student visa or residence permit.

Eligibility:

Outstanding academic performance in prior coursework is required, with an emphasis on that which is directly applicable to the Master’s degree being sought. The student is among the top 10% of graduates from his or her previous academic program. Please be aware that proving one’s ranking is not necessary; this data is provided only as a measure of competition.

Except for those applying to the LLM Advanced Studies programs or the MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy, applicants must not be citizens of a country in the European Economic Area or the European Free Trade Association (EEA/EFTA*) in order to be considered for financial aid through the Dutch system of student grants and loans (Studiefinanciering).

High Potential Scholarships at the University of Maastricht (Netherlands):

Talented students from outside the EEA may apply for UM High Potential Scholarships to study in one of the participating master’s programs or graduate professional programs provided by Maastricht University (UM), with the exception of the School of Business and Economics. The scholarships pay for the cost of tuition, monthly living expenses, insurance, and visa fees.

Value/Contents of the Scholarship:

A total of €12,350 (13 months) or €23,750 (25 months) will be awarded as a stipend, as well as health and liability insurance in the amount of €700, the cost of obtaining a visa in the amount of €207, the cost of tuition (at cost), and the cost of pre-academic training.

The first of September, 2023, will find you under the age of 35.
• You have a proven track record of academic success, as evidenced by your most recent transcript or other proof of your achievements in the classroom. If many applicants meet the criteria, those who can provide evidence (via transcripts or certified letters of academic distinction) that they are in the top five percent of those who applied for the 2023–2024 scholarship program will be given priority.

Radboud University Nijmegen’s Radboud Scholarship Programme provides a limited number of exceptional international students from outside the European Economic Area with full tuition waivers for Master’s degree programs taught in English. The tuition fee will be reduced to that of a European Economic Area (EEA) student as part of the scholarship. Visa, residence permit, medical insurance, and liability insurance are all paid for by the Radboud Scholarship.

Your tuition will be reduced to € 2,209 thanks to a scholarship. In 2023, for instance, a grant recipient will pay €2,209 for tuition rather than the full €16,000.
