Purpose of Role

The Patient Accounts Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all insurance, accounts receivable, and billing processes are completed correctly and on time. This includes, but is not limited to, cash posting, billing, and individual patient account review and reconciliation. This position provides AR support to internal departments and collaborates closely with their management team to ensure efficient operations and the proactive identification and resolution of issues.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes payment trends in Account Receivable and denials in order to collaborate with various payors and provider representatives to ensure the accuracy of our payor contracts; provides expertise in payment and contractual allowances to ensure the accuracy of our payor contracts, clinical arrangements, and hospital agreements.
  • Monitors reimbursements from third-party carriers as defined in contracts in accordance with federal and state requirements; ensures appropriate reimbursement across a wide range of specialty billing areas and complex claims.
  • Analyzes develops, and prepares reports for leadership to be used for operations and trend identification; applies knowledge of all aspects of the revenue cycle to make sound decisions regarding claim remediation.
  • Participates in regular meetings with payor representatives, clinical departments, or hospital facilities; studies data, identify disparities, and presents solutions; analyses clinical or payor data to make informed decisions on patient account remediation.
  • Provides informal guidance, support, and training to team members in order to help them achieve revenue management’s operational goals.

Minimum Standards

  • Education: GED or high school diploma
  • Experience: 2-5 years
