Nigeria and other nations with large young populations can capitalize on the current skills gap in the United Kingdom (UK). According to a new report by Erudera, a global university and academic program search platform, there is a list of top jobs and academic degrees that are well-equipped to meet market demands and address the shortage in the United Kingdom.

“This is primarily due to factors such as the skill requirements of the job (which are aligned with the degree) and the degrees typically held by professionals currently employed in the respective professions,” the report explained.

In an effort to grow and develop its economy, the United Kingdom has been flexible with its immigration routes, in part due to its withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit). The withdrawal created a large number of middle- and low-level job openings in the country.

The graduate route, the high-potential individual visa, the global talent visa, and the scale-up visa are some of the new routes. The number of Nigerians granted UK worker visas increased by 574.8 percent , from 1,998 to 13,449.
